The Challenge
The Theories & Solution
User-Centered Design (UCD): Following Texas Tech’s online brand guide, I designed the website based on user behavior, ensuring a streamlined experience that caters to their expectations. By structuring content for quick access, such as upcoming events, I focus on delivering relevant information that keeps users engaged and helps them achieve their goals efficiently.
Accessibility: I make sure my web designs are accessible to all users by including features like alt text for images, keyboard navigation, and ensuring compatibility with screen readers. Closed captions or transcripts are also provided for any multimedia content, making the site more inclusive for users with disabilities or non-native speakers, ensuring that the design is accessible to a wider audience.
The Solution
“I met Kori in June 2022. We were contacted by Kori after she saw our original chapter website that was hosted by Squarespace. The old website was kept up to date the best I could, but our former site administrator moved out of state, and it was very hard to keep up. Kori offered to help us with a new website for our chapter, and it debuted the following month, July 2022, to overwhelming success. The Texas Tech Alumni Association in Lubbock, TX, called it one of the best chapter websites they had seen, and other chapters have asked Kori with help with their own.
The website has been one of chapter’s lifelines. We have used it to sell our 2023 Fiesta Medals, which was an overwhelming success, and also for registration for our 2022 and 2023 Golf Tournaments, which made registration so much easier and streamlined the process. With the help of Kori and the website, we have made the most money for scholarships the last year since I started helping with the chapter 10 years ago.”
